Writing and publishing my cookbook was such an immense experience that it made me want to venture further into the culinary world. The journey to SplenDishes began a few years ago when I began experimenting with gourmet salts and herb blends. I found that they are a lot of fun and easy to use, and the unique blends I created became very popular with my friends and family – so much so, that I decided to create a signature line of specialty seasonings at their insistence. The line grew into dipping oils and mustard’s and has now flourished into a vast collection of gourmet products.
Most of 2009 was spent preparing my business plan and creating my brand. I did loads of research then worked on creating my products. It was much like the process of writing my cookbook with experimental recipes and lots of taste testing!
SplenDishes by Shonali pre-launched in December 2009 in hopes of reaching the holiday shoppers and officially launched in January 2010.

Shonali Thomas, was born and raised in Northern California. She moved to San Diego in 2002 and is married to Eric Thomas. Family, friends and her love of animals are a big part of her life.
Shonali’s experience in the kitchen, began at an early age. Her love of food evolved as she began to experience the vast culinary world and sheer enjoyment of creating new and innovative dishes, incorporating new ingredients as often as possible.
Sharing her love of food and entertaining for family and friends is something she relishes in and is always looking for an excuse for a dinner party to plan…her motto is “Life is all about good food, good wine and good friends. So enjoy it!!”
