Little Chef's After School Cooking Class Enrichment Program

Local Chef, Shonali Thomas, will be teaching the kids fun and healthy recipes. The Little Chefs will be learning about seasonal fruits and vegetables and other local ingredients and how to cook with them. The kids will participate in making recipes from start to finish. Throughout the program, they will learn about kitchen safety, chef’s rules to go by, substituting ingredients, dietary restrictions (such as gluten-free), and how to split and multiply recipes, all while learning to work in a team-like atmosphere, as chefs do in a professional kitchen. Chefs receive an apron and eCookbook at the end of each program. Different recipes are made for each program (except for a few favorites) as well.

All classes include grades K-5. Tuition ranges from $145-$165 per student for 6-8 week programs (according to school).


About Chef Shonali: Shonali is the owner of SplenDishes Kitchen, you can find her gourmet sauces and spice blends in local specialty stores throughout Charlotte, as well as online. She is also a cookbook author, caterer, personal chef and gives cooking lessons. Shonali is also a well known local TV Chef, and can be seen cooking on most local morning shows, such as Good Day Charlotte on Fox 46, Morning Break on WBTV, WBTV Morning News and Bounce TV.
